Does a budget app remind you of payment dates, and do you get phone notifications?

Last updated: November 3, 2026

In short: Wiozen Ledger shows reminders on the dashboard when you open the app; it does not send them as phone notifications or emails. Seven situations reach the Reminders section on the dashboard: a recurring payment coming up or overdue, a credit card payment due date, a card limit about to run out, a debt or loan with a due date coming up, money you lent that has been open for a long time, unpaid day wages, and a category budget about to fill up. The day counts are fixed, and the section is part of the full dashboard on Pro.

Where do reminders appear?

The Reminders section on the Dashboard lists at most six reminders. They are sorted by urgency: overdue ones first, then upcoming ones, then information notes; reminders of the same kind are ordered by date. Each line opens the related page. A card reminder takes you to the card's page, a debt or wage reminder to the person's page, a recurring payment reminder to the Recurring payments page, and a budget reminder to the Categories and budget page.

The list is worked out again from that day's records every time you open it. There is no button to dismiss a reminder; it goes away by itself once its cause is gone. When you record that you paid the rent, the rent reminder drops off; when you pay the statement, the card reminder goes; when a debt is settled, its reminder goes.

Which situations create a reminder?

There are seven. The day counts are fixed in the app and cannot be changed in the settings.

  • Three days before a recurring payment's day, a reminder such as “Rent payment is coming up” appears. If the day passes and that month's payment has not been entered, it stays as “Rent not paid”. Below it you see the date, the days left or passed, and the amount.
  • If a card's closed statement has an unpaid amount, a reminder appears 5 days before the payment due date and stays up to and including that day; it shows the amount left and how many days remain.
  • If a card's available limit falls below a tenth of the limit, a “limit almost reached” reminder appears; if it goes below zero, “limit exceeded”. For this you need to have entered the card's limit.
  • For a debt or loan where you entered a due date, a reminder appears 3 days before it. If the due date passes and the debt is still open, the reminder stays as overdue.
  • If money you lent without a due date stays open for more than 30 days, a note shows who owes how much and how many days it has been open.
  • If an employer has unpaid work days older than 14 days, the reminder shows how many days, the total amount and how many days ago the oldest one was.
  • When 80 percent of a category budget is spent, a reminder like “Groceries budget is 84% used” appears; when the budget is exceeded, a reminder says by how much you went over.

Why don't you get phone notifications?

Wiozen Ledger does not send push notifications to your phone, and installing the app on your phone does not change that. The only emails the app sends are about your subscription, plus a notice if you have not signed in for 12 months. No email comes for a payment date, a debt due date or a budget.

So for the reminders to help, you need to look at the dashboard every few days. Recurring payment and card reminders appear 3 to 5 days ahead, so opening the app often is enough. There is one thing to know about card due dates: once the due date passes, the card reminder leaves the list, and no separate warning appears for a late statement. Keep your bank's text message or app notification on as well; two separate reminders save the week when one is missed.

What should you enter so reminders show up correctly?

Reminders come only from what you enter. If a date or limit is missing, the reminder that depends on it never appears.

  • On a credit card account, fill in Statement day and Payment due day, and enter the Card limit for the limit warning. When you pay the statement, record the payment with the Pay card balance button on the card's page; if you don't, the reminder stays even though you paid. Details are in the credit card guide.
  • Enter rent, bills and subscriptions once on the Recurring payments page with their day of the month and amount, and record each month's payment with Pay. The recurring payments guide explains how to set it up.
  • When you record money you lent or borrowed on the People page, fill in Due date if a repayment date was agreed. See the shared expenses and IOUs guide.
  • For budget reminders, set a monthly limit on your expense categories on the Categories and budget page. See the category budget guide.

Which plan is it on?

Pro includes the Reminders section and the sections that create reminders (credit cards, recurring payments, people and budgets). Every new account gets 14 days of Pro without a card; after that Pro is $12.99 a year or $1.99 a month in Türkiye and $39.99 a year or $6.99 a month elsewhere. The free plan has 1 account and 30 records a month. Details are on the pricing page. The simpler dashboard on the free plan has no Reminders section.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change how many days ahead a reminder appears?
No. The windows are fixed: 3 days for recurring payments, 5 days for a card due date and 3 days for a debt or loan due date.
How do I dismiss a reminder?
There is no dismiss button. A reminder goes away by itself once its cause is gone: when you record the payment, when the debt is settled, or when a new month starts and the budget resets.
What happens if there are more than six reminders?
The dashboard shows the six most urgent. As you deal with those, the next ones move into the list.
Is there a setting to get notifications on my phone?
No. Wiozen Ledger does not send push notifications; reminders appear only on the dashboard. For cards, it helps to keep your bank's own notifications on.
