What happens to my Wiozen Ledger data when the Pro trial or subscription ends?
Last updated: October 27, 2026
In short: Nothing is deleted. When the 14 day trial ends or a subscription is not renewed, Wiozen Ledger moves you to the free plan without charging you. Your whole history stays visible, keeps counting in your totals and can be exported. What changes is new entries: on the free plan they go into one account you choose and are capped at 30 income or expense records a month. When you go back to Pro, everything opens up where you left it.
How does the trial start and end?
Every new Wiozen Ledger account opens with 14 days of Pro. No card is asked for and nothing is taken from your balance during the trial. Each Wiozen account gets the trial once; if you delete your ledger and sign in again with the same Wiozen account, a second trial does not start.
On the first day of the trial a band at the top of the pages shows the end date. In the last three days the band counts down the days left. When the time is up there is no automatic purchase and no email; your account quietly moves to the free plan. If you want to keep Pro, you buy it yourself on the pricing page.
How does paid Pro renew, and when do reminders arrive?
Pro is paid from your Wiozen balance. On the day the period ends, the renewal amount is taken from the balance and a new period starts. On the yearly plan an email arrives 14 days and 3 days before renewal; on the monthly plan, 3 days before. The email gives the renewal date and the amount that will be taken.
On the yearly plan the reminder also looks at your balance. If it is not enough, the email tells you how much is missing and asks you to top up before that date. If you do not want to renew, turn renewal off on the plan page; Pro keeps working until the end of the period and you move to the free plan when it ends.
What if the balance is short and the payment fails?
If the renewal cannot be taken, Pro does not switch off at once. It stays on for 7 more days, and the payment is retried once a day during that time. An email goes out the same day, and the band at the top of the pages shows the date Pro stays open until, with a Pay now button.
Top up within those seven days and the next attempt renews the plan with nothing changed. If the time runs out, Pro ends and an email titled "Your Wiozen Ledger Pro plan has ended" arrives. Your data is not touched at this stage either.
What changes on the free plan?
Moving to the free plan is a lock, not a deletion. The lock only stops new writes and edits:
- One of your accounts keeps taking new entries. The others stay visible, their balances count in your totals, and they can be deleted or exported, but they are read-only until you go back to Pro.
- Items, People, Tags, Recurring payments and Notes stay open in the menu with a lock icon when they already hold your data, and you can read them. Adding and editing are closed.
- The monthly report, transfers between accounts and text search in transactions are closed on the free plan.
- CSV and JSON export work on every plan.
What does the 30 records a month limit count?
The counter counts the income and expense records you entered in the current calendar month, in your own time zone. Record number 30 goes in, the next one is refused. A Free records this month counter sits at the top of the New entry page, and a warning shows from record 24 on. The counter starts again from zero on the 1st.
What counts is the day you enter a record, not the date written on it. Enter ten receipts from last month on the 1st and those ten come out of the new month's allowance. Editing an existing record does not count as a new one. Delete a record you entered this month and the counter goes down by one.
Transfers, debt movements, installment purchases and their monthly parts do not count, but those are Pro sections anyway. On the free plan the count is in practice every expense and income record. For someone who enters a couple of expenses a day, thirty records may not last the month; entering big items one by one and small ones as a single total at the end of the day is one way around it.
How do you choose the account that takes new entries?
If you have more than one account, a Choose your free account button appears in the band at the top of the pages when Pro ends. If you never choose, the account of your latest entry is used.
- Tap Choose your free account in the band.
- The list shows which account takes new entries right now.
- Press Use this account next to the one you want. You can change the choice later as often as you like.
If you stop signing in
On the free plan your data does not wait forever. For a ledger nobody has signed in to for 12 months, an email goes out first; if there is still no sign in within 30 days, the ledger is deleted. Accounts with a running trial, subscription or grace period are never touched by this. Signing in once a year, or downloading a copy as the export guide describes, is enough.
Going back to Pro
Pro is $39.99 a year or $6.99 a month; these prices are as of 30 October 2026. The moment you buy Pro again, every account becomes writable, the locked sections open and the monthly cap goes away. Since nothing was deleted in between, you carry on where you stopped. Details are on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
- Is money taken from my balance when the trial ends?
- No. The trial needs no card and nothing is charged when it ends. The account moves to the free plan by itself.
- Do read-only accounts drop out of my totals?
- No. They keep counting in the total of your accounts. Only new entries and edits are closed.
- If I enter last month's spending on the 1st, which month's allowance does it use?
- The month you enter it in. The counter looks at the day a record was entered, not the date written on it.
- I only have one account. Do I need to choose anything?
- No. With a single account new entries go there and the choose button does not appear.
